Its simple, You may do so but first Ask permission of every quarters before doing so. Yes, It is YOUR right to choose which religion you wish to embrace, but Never do so at the expense of another's livelihood. God is One, he is here and everywhere. One does not even need to find god through religion. As long as you believe in GOD, he will still listen to your prayers as long as you stay good and sinless. But to sacrifice the happiness of a wife and child, to embrace a religion of God. Thats like fulfilling your own needs, thats a shadow of greed. Now deeply think, do you think GOD himself would approve such an act of greed ? No. Please do try to understand, There is GOD watching us. Every single thing we say, do and act is being monitored, millions might think They can get away with it when they die. Who are you kidding ? He will punish you, simply by putting you in an ironic position but ensuring that you will still do not remember what you did to make you deserve such a fate.
